The Catamount Music Backstory

Catamount Music was founded in 2024 for the purpose of publishing and promoting the work of two Massachusetts-based, multi-instrumentalist composers. We are focused on composing songs and music for the TV and streaming sync market. We work primarily from an inspiring, remote sound studio located in Western Massachusetts, a peaceful location surrounded by nature.

Our music emphasizes organic instrumentation and centers around the singer-songwriter tradition, though the compositions are often complex and lean toward a jazz-based sound. Our catalog spans numerous genres including pop-influenced songs, folk, Americana, rock, country, ragtime, and Christmas music. Specific stylistic strengths include hard rock instrumental soundtracks, such as sports rock and stomp clap music, as well as intimate guitarscapes and acoustic finger-style music. While we remain committed to creating music for sync use, we are currently focusing more energy on original songwriting as a response to the potential significant erosion in the sync market due to generative AI.
